Walk-In Shower Screens Melbourne

Walk-in shower screens that create a clean, open bathroom space

Walk in Shower Screens Melbourne

Walk-in shower screens, also known as fixed panel shower screens, are a simple and modern way to create an open shower area without the need for doors.

As part of our frameless shower screens range, they use a single glass panel to provide a clean, minimal look while still containing water effectively when designed and positioned correctly. They’re a popular choice in Melbourne bathrooms where simplicity, accessibility and modern design are a priority.

What Is a Walk-In Shower Screen?

A walk-in shower screen is a fixed glass panel that separates the shower area from the rest of the bathroom without fully enclosing it. Unlike sliding or hinged shower screens, there are no moving parts — just a single piece of glass installed in the right position.

They are often referred to as fixed panel shower screens or walk-in shower glass panels, and are commonly used in both new builds and bathroom renovations.

Where Walk-In Shower Screens Work Best

Walk-in shower screens work best in bathrooms where there is enough space to allow for an open-entry layout.

They are commonly installed in:

  • larger bathrooms with open floor plans
  • ensuites where a clean, minimal look is preferred
  • wet room-style layouts
  • bathrooms designed with accessibility in mind

In smaller bathrooms, they can still work well when the layout is carefully planned to minimise water escape.

Glass Options

We offer a selection of premium glass types to suit your style, privacy needs, and budget.

Clear Glass

A timeless and practical option that enhances light and openness, making bathrooms feel larger and brighter.

Low-Iron (Starphire) Glass

For a superior, ultra-clear finish. Low-iron glass eliminates the green tint found in standard glass, allowing tiles and fittings to show their true colour.

Narrow Reeded (Fluted) Glass

A stylish choice that introduces texture and privacy while still allowing natural light to filter through – perfect for contemporary and designer bathrooms.

All glass is manufactured from high-quality safety glass in accordance with Australian Standards.

Custom Walk-In Shower Screens for Your Space

Every walk-in shower screen we install is custom made to suit the layout of your bathroom.

This includes:

  • glass panel size and positioning
  • wall fixing methods
  • compatibility with your tiles and finishes
  • optional hardware finishes to match your tapware

The size and placement of the panel is critical — it needs to balance openness with water containment, which is why proper design and measurement is important.

Walk-In Shower Screen Installation

Walk-in shower screens are typically measured after tiling is complete to ensure a precise fit.

Installation involves securely fixing the glass panel to the wall and floor using minimal hardware, while ensuring the panel is perfectly level and aligned.

Correct positioning is key to preventing water from escaping, especially in open shower designs. We take into account floor fall, shower head position and overall layout to achieve the best result.

Frequently Asked Questions About Walk-In Shower Screens

Here are some of the most common questions people ask about floor to ceiling shower screens.

Do walk-in shower screens cause water to splash out?

When designed correctly, water splash can be controlled. The size and position of the glass panel, along with the direction of the shower head, all play a role in keeping water within the shower area.

How wide should a walk-in shower panel be?

This depends on the layout, but the panel needs to be wide enough to contain water while still allowing comfortable access.

As a general guide, we don’t recommend anything smaller than 900mm, with at least 550mm of clearance to enter the shower. The ideal size will also depend on the type and position of the shower head, as this affects how water is directed.

In some cases, a walk-in shower may not be the most suitable option, particularly if the space doesn’t allow for adequate coverage. We can recommend the ideal panel size based on your layout.

Are walk-in shower screens suitable for small bathrooms?

Walk-in shower screens are generally not the best option for smaller bathrooms, as limited space makes it difficult to install a panel large enough to properly contain water.

They can still work in some layouts with careful planning, but in tighter spaces, options like sliding or corner entry shower screens are often more practical and effective.
