From final measure to installation
Most frameless shower screens in Altona are measured once the bathroom is tiled. That allows the glass to be made to the actual finished opening, instead of relying only on plans or rough measurements.
Bathroom is ready for measure
Final measurements are normally taken after wall tiles, floor tiles, hob tiles and niches are finished.
Layout is checked on site
We check tile fall, wall alignment, fixing points, door swing, nearby towel rails and any tight access points.
Glass and hardware are confirmed
The glass type, panel layout and hardware finish are confirmed before the shower screen is ordered.
Installation is completed
The screen is installed, aligned, sealed where required and checked so the door or panels sit correctly.
Nano glass coating for easier everyday cleaning
For Altona clients who want to make ongoing maintenance easier, we can apply a protective Nano coating to the shower screen glass after installation.
The coating helps water, soap residue and mineral deposits bond less aggressively to the glass surface, making routine cleaning quicker and more manageable over time.
- Helps reduce water marks, soap build-up and staining
- Makes the glass easier to wipe down after use
- A practical upgrade for bathrooms used every day
- Best applied when the shower screen glass is new

FAQs
A few practical questions Altona customers ask before choosing a custom shower screen for an existing bathroom, ensuite renovation or new bathroom build.
Can a frameless shower screen replace an old framed screen?
Yes. In many Altona bathrooms, an old framed shower screen can be removed and replaced with a custom frameless shower screen, as long as the tiles, waterproofing and fixing areas are suitable.
During the measure, we check the finished opening, wall condition, old fixing marks, floor fall and shower layout before confirming the best replacement option.
When should my shower screen be measured?
Final measurements should be taken after the wall tiles and floor tiles are completed. This lets us measure the actual finished opening and check wall alignment, floor fall, clearances and door movement before the glass is made.
You can still contact us earlier with plans, photos or rough measurements so we can help guide the layout before the bathroom is ready for final measure.
How long does it take after the final measure?
After final measurements are completed, manufacturing and installation is typically finished within 6 to 10 working days. Some layouts, glass types or hardware finishes may take longer.
If you are working around a builder, tiler or handover date, it is best to get in touch before the tiling is finished so we can plan the measure as soon as the bathroom is ready.
What shower screen works best for a smaller ensuite?
For smaller ensuites, the best option depends on the opening width, vanity position, toilet location and how much door swing space is available.
Sliding shower screens can work well where a hinged door would be awkward, while corner entry shower screens can help with access in tighter corner layouts. Some bathrooms are still better suited to a simple hinged door or fixed panel.
What height should a frameless shower screen be?
Many frameless shower screens are made around 2000mm to 2100mm high, but the final height depends on the ceiling height, shower head position, bathroom layout, tile lines and the style of screen being installed.
Because each screen is custom made, the height can often be adjusted to suit the finished bathroom rather than being limited to a standard pre-made size.
Do frameless shower screens stop all water from escaping?
Frameless shower screens are designed to control water, but they are not completely watertight. Small clearances are needed so the door can open and close properly.
Good water control comes from the right glass size, correct shower head position, proper seals, neat silicone work and good floor fall back toward the shower waste.
What thickness glass is used?
We use 10mm toughened safety glass for our frameless shower screens. This gives the screen a solid, stable feel while keeping the clean frameless appearance.
Compared with thinner glass used in many framed screens, 10mm glass feels more substantial and helps reduce flex or rattling.
Is low iron glass worth considering?
Low iron glass is worth considering if you want a clearer look with less green tint, especially in bathrooms with white tiles, light stone, marble-look finishes or premium hardware.
Standard clear glass is still a good choice for many bathrooms, but low iron glass can give a brighter finish when glass clarity is a major part of the design.
Can you match my tapware and bathroom fittings?
Generally, yes. We offer a wide range of hardware finishes to help work with popular bathroom tapware and accessory ranges.
Common finishes include chrome, matt black, brushed brass, brushed nickel and gunmetal. In most cases, we can get very close to the fittings selected for the bathroom.
Do you install frameless shower screens in Altona?
Yes. We install custom frameless shower screens in Altona and nearby western suburbs including Altona North, Altona Meadows, Seaholme, Newport, Williamstown, Laverton, Yarraville, Werribee and surrounding areas.
